November Birth Stars
In November, Perseus and Taurus climb the sky and winter's constellations begin. All 30 days have their own star; the standouts are Mirfak, Algol, Menkar, and Alcyone. Alcyone, the leading star of the Pleiades, is the birth star for November 18.
Our birth stars are an independently compiled system: from the stars named by the International Astronomical Union, our editors chose the one that culminates around midnight on each date. Other sources may assign different stars, but this page follows our own mapping throughout.

The November night sky
Alcyone (the 18th) is the brightest member of the Pleiades — Subaru in Japanese — a tiny cluster long loved as a seasonal signpost. Atlas (the 19th) is named for the mythic father of the Pleiades sisters.
Mirfak (the 11th and 13th) is the brightest star of the hero Perseus. In the hero's hand lies Algol (the 8th), the "Demon Star," whose light dims every 2.87 days as its companion eclipses it. Menkar (the 7th) is a red giant at the jaw of Cetus, the Whale.
