How to look up a birthday color and make an image from it
For anyone who has to ask someone for their birthday color, or looks it up alone: how to find the color, how to turn it into an image, and how to post it to Instagram, in that order.
How to look up a birthday color
Pick a month and a day. The color name, the HEX, and the color word appear right there.
1. Pick the month and the day
Use the selector on the home page, or open one of the monthly lists, and choose the month and day of the birthday. February 29 is covered too.
2. The name, the HEX, and the color word appear
The color card shows the name of the color, its HEX, and the color word: a single word written for that particular color.
3. Copy the HEX and use it
The copied HEX works in any palette tool, and it is a practical reference when picking clothes or wrapping paper. All 366 days can be browsed from the list at any time.
How to make a card or a wallpaper
Three sizes and four styles, all built from the color of that day.
1. Open it with a date
The card maker takes a month and a day in the URL. Open the link below to see how the first of January looks.
2. Choose a size and a style
There are three sizes: wallpaper (1080x2340), story (1080x1920), and square (1080x1080). Four styles: solid, gradient, info card, and moon.
3. Add a name and save
The name field is optional. Whatever you type goes into the image only, and is never sent to a server. Saving opens the share sheet.
How to post it to Instagram stories
A saved image can be posted straight from the share sheet.
1. Save the image
Pressing save opens the share sheet of your phone, where Save to Photos sits. On a device without the share sheet, the file downloads instead.
2. Open Instagram and pick stories
Open the story composer in Instagram and choose the saved photo. In the story size (1080x1920), nothing gets cropped away.
3. Add the color word
Writing the color word of that day turns a plain photo into a small story. Ready-made lines are collected on the birthday message page, ready to copy.

Questions
Is there a color for February 29?
Yes. February 29 does not come around every year, but this site keeps a color for it alongside the other 365 days.
Why does another site give a different color for the same birthday?
The assignment of colors to birthdays follows the editorial policy of this site. Other sites use their own rules, which is why the same birthday can come out differently. The reasoning is written up on the About birthday colors page.
Why does the save button not respond?
Some devices block images from being saved straight from the browser. In that case, use the share sheet on the card maker page and pick Save to Photos.
